About region

Masuria and the Masurian Lake District are known in Polish as Kraina Tysiąca
Jezior and meaning "Land of a Thousand Lakes." These lakes were ground out
of the land by glaciers during the Pleistocene ice age, when ice covered
northeastern Europe.
